What happens when two creatives meet? A whole lot of talking in between the brainstorming.

Worlds collided and not in a people-sense, more so in a passion-sense.

To be just a little more specific, the Editor-in-Chief, Hannah Beil, and cover star, Nico Simakas, talk about fashion and all of the experiences it leads to, self discovery, and keeping your priorities straight.

“I diversify myself within the fashion industry the same way I do in my day-to-day life. I value my individuality and express who I am without consideration of external pressure or judgment.”

Everyone welcome, Nico.

“Although I was not old enough to realize fashion was a career I could pursue, I loved to express myself through what I wore, starting in elementary school. I was really into athletics and sports as a young kid. Because of this, I found confidence and satisfaction in wearing sportswear,” he easily backtracks to where it all began.

When you think about it, a child experiences peak imagination. You could easily imagine how excited that little boy version of Nico was just to put on a pair of Nikes, and that he was!

“I was born in 2000, so when I was in elementary school, Under Armour and Nike were the two household names in the sportswear business. I remember noticing details such as the metal tips on the waistband tie on my Under Armour sweatpants. My attention to detail and eyes for differentiation were there from the beginning.”

Ten years old and he could confidently say a healthy part of his identity coincided with fashion.

Doubling in both big-picture and small-picture conceptualizations and executions, Beil knew her most strenuous task would be styling.

“His wardrobe is synonymous to that of Lewis Hamilton, Jacob Elordi, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Bad Bunny,” she pauses for a breath as the list goes on and on, “I felt like I was in candy land just jumping from piece to piece and outfit to outfit.”

What you will see our cover star in this Fall may just have flares of his own crafty hands and a significant use of his favorite fabric.

“Fall opens up the widest range of my wardrobe,” he prefaces.

“In my opinion, pants are significantly more aesthetic and visually appealing than shorts. Denim is one of my favorite textiles, so jeans are always in rotation. I also love sweatpants. I have removed most, if not all, of my joggers from my rotation and have built out my straight leg or boot cut pieces. To sum up my classic fall outfit with my favorite pieces, I’d say my YSL Jodphur boots, a pair of denim, and a tank under an unbuttoned distressed flannel. I tend to put some of my own touches on garments I own after I purchase them. Specifically, I distressed a NSF flannel last fall to create a more lived-in, rugged look.”
