When you get a first glance of our newest cover star, Keira McTighe, you see beauty, and then, if you are lucky enough, you get to experience who she is beneath the lovely smile and glowing brown eyes. Going from having mutual friends to a blossoming friendship, McTighe and founder, Hannah Beil, experienced the magic of art and how it unites humans. The icing on the cake for the interview hit suddenly when Beil was told that the two shared the same birthday, and after that everything clicked.
The transition from the flamboyant dress and blazer with heels to the all pink suede jacket and pants with Converse made for the statement of the century. The model channeled each look as if she wore these clothes on the daily. How powerful!
Advice from ÜP’s Creative Director, Beil: “I wanted to show just how far you can go with different pieces. You do not have to tread in one niche. Adventuring with style is healthy and necessary for creativity. If you cannot reach a creative spark from any art, try clothes, we all use them. Clothing is a universal language for creativity; a trait of which we all need to truly feel free. If we are stuck in a constant pattern with work, daily chores, and other routines, you become locked into a brain that is not your own. Look inside your very own mind, and go through the motions of which it encourages. If one day you want to wear the dress, wear the dress. If one day you want to combine the Converse with the dress, combine. If one day you want to wear the suede jacket with the sparkly dress, please, do not hesitate.”
The gist of it all is to wear what speaks to you. Clothing is not just any old language, it is a love language of which unconsciously translates in the minds of passersby. Style relays a strong piece of you; what you like, who you are, how you look at life, what makes you feel comfortable, and what makes you feel confident. While clothes do not tell our whole story, they undoubtedly fill a majority of an unsolved puzzle. Humans are complex, and the fact that we are able to communicate bits of ourselves just through fabric is beautiful in itself.
You will likely find McTighe in an arrangement of colors; from the black leather jacket, to an off-duty model onesie with a hot pink button up and hat, to the tiger-printed dress seen on Kendall Jenner herself. She is subtle and prolific with her delivery of personal style.
