Truth be told, contour is the secret to it all. But, who was going to tell us that the first step to a clean finished look is to start the base of your makeup with the product?
Mary Phillips, long-time makeup artist of Zoey Deutch, Jennifer Lopez, the Kardashians, and Hailey Beiber (the list goes on), revealed her secrets recently, and all those interested in the routine of dolling yourself up are tuning into Phillips’ tips and tricks. Achieving flawless, model-like skin is more possible than ever before.
You could be your very own glazed-donut or have that gentle blush finish like Beiber and Kendall Jenner.
She considers the contour as the “bones” to the rest of the structure of the face. For the longest time, many have done the complete opposite; contour would come after concealer and foundation. We have been accustomed to this method from beauty channels since the early stages, but now we have access to professionals.
“It’s like laying down the bones under the skin; the contour and the highlight being the bones and the skin being the foundation,” she recaps in her TikTok debut video, “I am loving everyone’s videos recreating my technique, I thought why not join TikTok and make my own?”
The inverted-base technique, or “I just got back from Europe” glow, provides each and every person with the ability to sculpt their face to perfection. Phillips has turned this daily action even more into an art form.
Avoid texture and rough patches by following Mary’s actions in order to show off that soft complexion.
In just five products- contour, concealer, foundation, highlight, and blush- you can achieve this all on your own. Maybe one day you could receive that help from the hands of the celebrity makeup artist yourself.
