Our first cover star to ring in 2024 is none other than the closest lady to the Editor-in-Chief: Amber Mauger. Easily, she is also the most confident, most optimistic, most reviving person to be around. That statement may just be the most agreeable sentence we’ve written.
Creating this issue to roll out in a quick turnaround time took hours of perfecting the eye makeup and the slick hairstyle, one we see on Hailey Beiber quite often. We commend the model and her hairstylist from both perspectives. The time it takes to achieve the right amount of hair out, a correct part, and a slick down to the scalp, and Mauger now has sympathy for Beiber’s comfort.
It surely felt worth it as the combinations of the looks from clothes to beauty felt just right. Some of these winter days have been feeling the opposite of what we’re used to in December and January. On the actual day the two worked together, Beil describes the setting as “freezing but fitting” for the winter wonderland she originally was looking to match for the respected month.
We get to not only see Mauger in action, but also hear from her and the dynamics of her lifestyle that feels magnetic.
Another hit of the past year in the entertainment world is the “Barbie” movie with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. After hearing what she just put so perfectly into words about the pressures and expectations of being a woman, we are pleased to watch the film with its acknowledgments about destroying these concepts and normalizing our differences. Remaking this movement into this magazine’s branding, we want to show off our beautiful and handsome cover stars; not just their faces, but their stories and personalities.
Mauger connects most to this character that she can remember.
Peering into the future, of course she sees herself married in the next chapter of her life, but for this year, she has three wishes: become an aunt, have an internship in or around D.C., and a new hobby like re-learning Spanish.
She finds comfort in her long-term boyfriend, Nathaniel Lutz. He is her home literally and figuratively while distanced during their pursuit for a higher education.
She kindly includes the Editor-in-Chief in this list of comfort.
“I have so much love and support in my life, but these two people make me feel at home. I know I can be myself around them, and I am genuinely so happy whenever they are around- that is a very special thing to have. They are the only people on this Earth that I can’t get enough time with. I never want it to end and when they leave I miss them as soon as they go. It is a different kind of comfort between the two, obviously Nate is in a more romantic way,” she narrates an intimate fraction of her circle.
Nerves were high prior to shoot day and moments before, but Mauger came more prepared than Beil could have ever hoped or asked for. She practiced her “model face” and it came effortlessly.
From Mauger to Beil, “I was just hoping I gave you what you wanted and I did not care how long it took. I just wanted to impress you. As soon as I saw you doing your thing though I knew I would be okay. I had so much fun doing it.”
