It Was Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville, and We Just Lived In It

Jimmy Buffett shifted music for the better through his “life is a vacation” outlook in-and-out of his profession.

“Margaritaville” flipped his world upside down, and so did 30 consecutive albums since 1970.  The hit single- one that turned him into a beloved man whether country was your thing not- even made room for an empire in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Margaritaville Café, a Florida staple since 1985, combined the simple pleasures that Buffett lived for: food, music, sun, beach, and a sweet southern-like hospitality. Along with his arrangement of Margaritaville resorts.

Southern Living, a culture-based magazine, found through a survey done by Twiddy that there are six terms to describe this way of life; including, politeness, good home cooking, kindness, helpfulness, charm, charity.

The café now extends beyond the country and into the Caribbean for full effect (a year round summer).

He gave, gave, and gave; especially a warm welcome to everyone.

While in San Diego, he performed his final concert with his band on May 6, 2023.

Artists are artists for a reason, they make you feel something through their creativity and stage presence. A cheese from Buffett was not hard to get as he smiled through nearly almost all of his time performing. Fans left each concert full of zest for life. That was just what he did; he relayed a message through his lyrics, monologues, and conversations that subtly woke people up.

Jane Slagsvol, his wife, and three children are his survivors and outlets to keep his legacy going.

Building onto his beach brand, he created businesses, started restaurants, wrote best-selling books (i.e. Tales From Margaritaville and Where is Joe Merchant?), led environmentalist actions for a cleaner Earth, and all the more.

He doubled his work shifts for the reason being that he brought attention to issues like Florida’s endangered manatees during his performances to sold-out stadiums.

After struggling in the hospital since his admission back in May of this year, he made it his lifelong mission to continue what he started. “Getting old is not for sissies, I can assure you,” the country-star jokes after not showing an ounce of pain during his last concert and a 19-song set.
