Short Hair For a Long Winter

Short hair feels like the next big change to make. Maybe our urge is from looking through the archives of Kaia Gerber or maybe it is the focus on hair health.

The combination is enough to not question the decision for a second.

Listening to your gut on any and all decisions is absolutely crucial to avoid regret.

Reassurance comes from the self, but we are here to provide that extra cushion when you see your hair fall to the ground underneath the chair.

You most likely have your hairdresser- the one who you go to for all requests and trust for changes such as this one right now. Let them guide you on the specifics of what style suits your face shape best; a bob, just to the shoulder, or chop a few inches, maybe add a few layers in there?

Take Hailey Beiber for example, she went the bob route and not much longer, many hopped on that same train.

When you clean up your dead ends, there is room and potential to eventually grow it out even healthier. After going through rounds of hair dye, bleaching, and heat as an adventurous teen and even in her job, Beiber found herself ready for a redo.

Stephanie Sey, top trichologist (someone who professionally studies the hair and scalp), will tell it to you straight: “Not tackling split ends means it will travel up the hair shaft causing more damage which may mean you’ll never get to see that extra length.”

How many times you do this, however, depends on the texture of your hair.

“People with textured hair should be sure to cut their hair every 2-3 months,” Angela C Styles, celebrity hairstylist explains, “For people with non-textured hair, haircuts vary based on how fast their hair grows,” she says.

A fresh start is a simple step in growing thicker, longer hair eventually.

You have to allow room for your hair to breathe, for when it is constantly being suffocated, it lacks moisture, vitamins, and oxygen to feel completely satisfied. We want to treat our hair as if it is a luxury.

Everyone has a short hair phase in their life, but maybe this time, it isn’t a phase?
