Movies connected us this past year more than any other establishment in the physical world. Most likely you were the quarantine friend group who tried out the new setting on Netflix. Watching your beloved films or TV shows over the app with those you wish to be in person with deemed crucial in a time of separation. Words embedded into scripts each play a role in developing the feeling throughout the writing. Let’s talk first about the beauty within the mind- the starting point for all things creative. In rhetoric, how beautiful does one’s mind have to be to configure such drastically lovely story lines!
“Minari” by Lee Isaac Chung appeared in select theatres and virtually on certain programs February 12, 2020. The writer ties together the meaning of family and the level of importance the unit plays in one’s life.
A fan (@insook) writes an appreciation comment on the Minari movie Instagram:
“I have watched this movie four times so far, and I know I am going to watch it more. I came to the U.S. in 197, so this story is almost equal to mine in many ways. I kept my past somewhere in the dark, and I almost forgot about those days as a girl with plenty of hopes and dreams but came home from work dead tired everyday. This movie reconnected me to the past.
I love Steven Yeun as an actor and love his honest personality as well. I have know him from “Walking Dead”, “Okja”, and “Burning”.
Now, Steven became an even famous celebrity. In the movie, one scene that caught my eye was when he was refused to let go of his vegetable sample box. His family went to the hospital to check the progress of his son’s heart condition. He was scheduled to meet the grocery store owner after the appointment. This meeting could give him a promising chance to become a businessman. He made a box with fresh vegetables from his farm to show him. He was so focused on preventing the vegetables in the box from getting spoiled in the hot weather in the car, so he walked into the doctor’s office with it. His wife was already mad at him and this act did not help. I cried when he was holding the box awkwardly inside of the office. It was so real!! I know that I held that box many times in my past. That box is not visible like here. It could had been at work or school. It represented any obstacle I had to overcome.
I matured from holding different boxes throughout the year. ..
Now, I can smile and tell my friends of the first generation in this land:
‘Yeah, there were some bumpy roads here and there along the way, but,
Hey, we all did OK!!”
Thank you for sharing our story”
The manner in which this film resonates with fans demonstrates just how important the world of writing is amidst chaos. The Oscars present the film recognition for six inclusive awards; “Best Picture”, “Best Actor”, “Best Supporting Actress”, “Best Original Score”, “Best Director”, and “Best Original Screenplay”. A word on the two actors’ outfits: Yeun stuns in a ever-so classic black suit and Kim makes the crowd fall even more in love with him in Thom Browne shorts.
Yeun shares a quote from the movie:
“You start each day, the place
Is as it is, and at
The day’s end, it is as
It is, a little changed
By work, but still itself,
Having included you
And everything you’ve done.
And it is who you are,
And you are what it is.
You will work many days
No one will ever see;
Their record is the place.
This way you come to know
That something moves in time
That time does not contain.
For by this timely work
You keep yourself alive.”
Take his words as you perceive; we believe this is a story of recognition and awareness (two skills needed to live contently).
