We all know of Orlando Bloom. Whether it be from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, or the Pirates of the Caribbean, his talent cannot go unnoticed. Bloom’s iconic roles in these fundamental franchises hold a sentimental place in many of our hearts. Bloom is a man of many facets. The more I learn about him, the more reasons I find to love Bloom.
Bloom took to the theater in 2007 in a play entitled In Celebration. At this point in his life, he was no stranger to the stage. He joined the National Youth Theater in the 90s and remained with the company for two seasons. His theater era was an iconic start to his acting career.
Orlando Bloom has a heart of gold. A lesser known detail of Bloom is his passion for activism. Bloom has been an advocate for an organization named Global Green since the early 2000s. Global Green’s mission statement reads, “ Global Green focuses on integrating the shared interests of people, places and planet through partnerships. We are on a 10 year mission to lead a global response to keep us within planetary boundaries”. This organization brings together people who have the means to create real change and channels their resources and passions through the direction and guidance of its mission. Global Green is an affiliate of Green Cross International and has created some impactful changes.
Global Green isn’t the only foundation that Bloom is involved with. In 2009 Bloom became a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund. This foundation works diligently to protect and enrich the lives of children all over the world. Most recently in March of 2022 Bloom traveled to Moldova to provide aid to UNICEF “Blue Dot”, a safe space for traveling refugees.
Be it Bloom’s philanthropic era, his time blessing our screens, or his early theater days, we love everything he has to offer.
