There are times you come across someone who easily aligns with your outlook on your personal passions. Working with Faith Benson on the first issue of the new year made for an easy job for the Editor-in-Chief, Hannah Beil. The cover star brought curiosity, flexibility, support, and devotion. Beil replies, “I could not have asked for anything more from someone portraying the designs derived from the depths of my thoughts.”
Conversation turned tables multiple times from future wedding plans to how special fashion is to both of the women to living out the truth of your given name.
“My relationship with fashion is always evolving. The best part about fashion to me is the ability to try new styles and explore what you like and don’t like. It’s never constant, but that is the fun part. My hope is for fashion to always be something I can use to express myself.”
Fashion may just have its own category in Benson’s goals going into 2023. When the two first started discussing the idea of an issue together, they felt equally eager to explore more of what clothes have to offer, and even being in front of a camera for the cover star.
“My birthday outfit this year was all about me feeling confident and proud on my 18th birthday. As a legal adult, I got my bellybutton pierced and chose an outfit to showcase my new accessory. I felt brave, confident, and proud in my birthday outfit.”
The power of clothes has a chokehold on nearly all of us. There is no better feeling than putting on an outfit and knowing damn well you are about to feel your most confident. Planning outfits in advance can minimize any related stress that may come with styling. Faith knew she wanted a cropped top and everything after that would flow, she wanted accessories to be the main show. Typically, that is how it rolls. A neutral outfit can instantly elevate the second you layer it with popping jewelry, shoes, and a shoulder or hand bag.
